I felt an inspiration of blessing as I stared at my blender while preparing my morning smoothie. Smoothies have become an essential part of my health regimen since the stroke. I now understand the necessity to get the proper nutrients in my body and brain to help them recover from the devastation that took place six years ago.
I chuckled to myself as I loaded up the blender with organic kale and baby spinach. I was remembering the times of staring hopelessly at the spinach on my plate as a child hoping it would magically disappear and I could leave the table. Look at me now eating all these dark leafy greens…there is a God!
I added some frozen blueberries and dark cherries to the blender and a few scoops of plain Greek yogurt. Then some organic stevia based protein powder and covered everything with some Almond milk. The blender began to hum and everything started to blend as I watched through the glass.
The mixture became very green and I started to get concerned. I did not want a kale smoothie at all…did I add enough fruit? As the blender continued to spin, something happened. The mixture became a vibrant hue as I could hear the fruit being thoroughly incorporated in the blender.
I began to salivate as the smoothie began to take shape but questions jumped into my head. Did I add enough milk and would there be enough for both me and my caregiver? The blender continued to pulse and the volume of mixture in the blender rose to the top. Now it was time to taste! I poured the smooth and creamy mixture into the glasses. There was enough smoothie for my caregiver and a mid-morning snack for later too!
There was no bitter taste of kale as I slowly gulped down this concoction of deliciousness. I thanked the Lord for His provision and for helping me to understand the importance of what I put in my body affects my health. I have lost almost two hundred pounds since the stroke and the smoothies have played a huge role in helping me improve my health and eating habits going forward.
I speak from experience when I say I have experienced the bitterness of kale in my spiritual life. Trials, tribulations, and testing are going to be a part of every Christian’s life. Jesus suffered during His time on earth and He promised Christians would experience difficult times as well.
These things I have spoken to you that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world. John 16:33.
God gives us peace and indescribable joy during our times of difficulty. He adds the sweet fruit of love, wisdom, comfort, and peace. We have confidence in Him as our world seems to be spinning in circles and are reminded that God is in control. Not only has God added His sweet fruit, He covers everything with His strength overflowing.
God’s strength allows us to handle the trials and tests we encounter and face the unexpected with grace. We put our complete faith in Him during these times knowing the benefits of His plan for our lives. God is infusing us with the spiritual nutrients needed to be used by Him as a blessing.
Consider it all joy my brethren when you experience various trials. Knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. and let endurance have its perfect result so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. James 1:2-4
And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God; to those who are called according to his purpose. For those whom he foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son... Romans 8:28-29.
As we go through this process of being blended by Christ. There is so much taking place in the midst of these difficulties. God is transforming us through the experiences we are facing. He reminds us of His love and our dependence on Him. Remember as we experience these trials and tests; God is preparing us to be used by Him to bless others for His glory.
It may be family members, beloved friends, or maybe those you do not even know. God knows everything and He wants to use your life for His glory. Once He is done preparing you, He will pour you out as a blessing to others as you represent Him.
So regardless of what you are going through, always remember God is in control. He wants to use you to be a blessing of hope and encouragement, of comfort, or even wisdom. So trust your Savior as your world seems to be spinning off course. Jesus is preparing you to be poured out as a blessing!
Love in Christ,
