LOVE. What does that word mean to you? What is the first thing that pops into your mind when you hear or read the word love?
There is no doubt in my mind that the word love means different things to so many. In my fifty-five years on this earth, I have fallen in love a few times. However, I have only been in love twice. Meaning, there have been only two women in my lifetime that I seriously considered spending the rest of my life with them.
The first woman broke off our engagement just months before our wedding day. Then, nine years later, the other woman traveled to the other side of the world to serve as a missionary. If you read my last book, you know that I still have some scars from being in love and losing that love. Twice.
A Different Kind of Love
Even though the affection for the missionary was powerful, I did not want to stand between her and God’s calling on her life. In fact, when we met, we never intended to fall in love with each other. Now, twenty-five years later. I’m not sure if my heart can withstand falling in love and losing it again.
However, the good news is that I have discovered a different kind of love! Or instead, the love found me. Friend, please hear me when I say that I know how it feels to be broken physically and emotionally. So, I do not take the matter of love lightly in any way whatsoever. But the love of God is a different kind of passion that is hard to describe. However, I will do my best to explain His matchless love.
Jesus Loves You
Did you ever sing the song, Jesus Loves Me? I remember singing, “Jesus loves me this I know for the bible tells me so. Little ones to Him belong, they are weak, but He is strong. Yes, Jesus loves me. Yes, Jesus loves me. Yes. Jesus loves me for the bible tells me so.”
I know that you are not a child reading this. But I will refer to the bible about the matchless love of Jesus. So, settle in, my friend, and let’s talk about LOVE!
For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39.
A Matchless Love
Well, it seems like the Apostle Paul has covered everything we can think of when it comes to God’s affection for us. Nothing separates us from the tremendous compassion God has for His children. Feeling unloved or unwanted can be a devastating feeling for sure. But as the song says, Jesus loves us. He loved us even though we are sinners; He was willing to die for us.
Why? You ask. Why would Jesus go to the cross for you and me?
Jesus expressed His unbelievable passion for you and me at the cross. He was the perfect sacrifice for all of our sins. He still desires a relationship with us. That is why Jesus went to the cross for us. Click To TweetWhen we were utterly helpless, Christ came at the right time and died for us sinners. Romans 5:6. (NLT)
Jesus left His heavenly throne to live in the womb of a young virgin girl named Mary and be born as a baby. Not only that, but thirty-three years later, He was arrested, judged unfairly, brutally beaten, humiliated, mocked. Then to make matters even worse, His heavenly Father had to turn away as Jesus bore all the sins of the world on the cross. That, my friend, is a matchless love.
No Need to Fear
When you really think about the genuine compassion that Jesus has for us it can definitely be overwhelming. It is so hard to wrap our minds around this type of love. This is where FAITH enters the equation. God wants us to TRUST HIM. Do you believe in Jesus and unconditional His love for you? Then focus on what you believe and not what you feel all the time. That is the truest form of faith.
There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. 1 John 4:18.
The compassion that God has for you is PERFECT. There are no conditions. No qualifications. Come to Him just as you are. I am begging you to embrace His love. Please, friend! Lean into the loving arms of Jesus. Rest your weary head in His bosom and experience His peace. A peace beyond all comprehension. Phil. 4:7.
You have NOTHING to fear. Jesus will not turn you away or reject you. I promise.
God’s Gift of Grace
I’m not sure where your head is at right now. Maybe you feel unloved, confused, worried, anxious, or hurting something fierce. However, it is because of God’s undeserved and amazing grace that you can still experience His unmatched love. It is His gift to you.
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is a gift from God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. Ephesians 2:8-9.
There was nothing you had to do to become a member of Jesus’ royal family. You only had to accept His gift of love to you. If you are reading this and have not received this gift, why not? What are you waiting for at this point? There is no promise of tomorrow for you or me. His love is the best thing that can happen in your life. So, choose Him today! Don’t wait. There are no more excuses!
I Love You!
If you are a brother or sister in Christ reading this today, I write these words today because of my love for you. As I mentioned earlier, I know what it feels like to be hurt deeply and be mistreated as well. But by the grace of God, I continue to press forward. The enemy has no desire for me to share these words of hope and encouragement with you. I thank God for giving me the strength, wisdom, and courage to do His will.
But this is about YOU—my readers. My compassion for you runs deep. I sincerely want you to experience the matchless love of Jesus every day! You have to focus on His affection for you and less on your circumstances. I know it is hard, but you can do this. Jesus is waiting for you to run into His arms. Feel His warm embrace and begin to live for Him as he showers you with His grace. Don’t ignore the love of Jesus any longer. He loves you more than you know!
Love in Christ,
