2023: A Fascinating Year About Trust and its Benefits

TRUST. That is an interesting word, for sure. Let me ask you this: what does trust mean to you? You have put your “trust” in the chair you are sitting in now. I was surprised around this time last year when God gave me the word trust for 2023.2023: A Fascinating Year About TRUST and its Benefits

There are some exciting synonyms for trust. Let’s see, there is confidence, faith, and hope, to name a few. Hope is a fascinating one for me. Because is one hopeful? Or is one placing complete confidence and, in turn, their hope in someone or something? I prefer the latter. The first seems somewhat wishy-washy to me.

Let’s Talk About Trust.

In this post, I want to share my journey through the past year and how the word trust affected, impacted, and even helped me. I hope my story will encourage you as we embark on a New Year in the coming days!

So, with that in mind, let’s begin with last December; by the grace of God, I had started pulling myself out of a deep depression last Fall. I felt “stuck,” unsure of what was next for me on God’s timetable. Have you ever felt that way? You can read more about it here.

Before God had given me my word for 2023, I received an email from a publishing company that was branching out. They inquired if I had any upcoming books and wanted me to consider them for designing my cover. Two things piqued my interest. One, they are a Christian company. Second, I had used their email service from one of their ministries for years.

There was only one problem. Even though I had ideas about what I wanted to write about next, the book was nowhere near completion. A cancer scare and a possible surgery had derailed my creative writing process for much of the late Summer and most of Fall, too.

God’s Message to Me

Then, it hit me as I considered their offer. Would they like to update the cover for one of my award-winning books? Unleash the Power of Prayer in Your Life has earned multiple Book Awards, but it was my first book, and I want to expound on the power of prayer. I cherish prayer and remember that some reviewers enjoyed the original but wanted evenreaders just that!

That idea came from God. I was chuckling to myself after sending the email response. I said, “Okay, Lord, I’m ready to write again if that is what you want.” It was exciting waiting for their response, and within minutes, they responded with an emphatic yes to updating the cover of my award-winning book on the power of prayer. Praise God! We are back at it, doing what I love.

I Want You to Trust Me

The exhilaration of writing again was intoxicating, but now I needed to return to work. It has been six years since my prayer book was published. So, I read it again and again. Then I looked at the reviews. I wanted to fill the void readers felt was missing from a book they enjoyed. They thought I had just touched the tip of a challenging topic. Readers enjoyed my personal stories that reflected all the scripture verses. They could relate, but they wanted more help achieving powerful life-changing prayers.

Isn’t it funny how and where you hear from God sometimes? I would love to tell you that it always happens during my quiet time with Him, reading His Word in my comfy recliner in the early morning hours. And that has happened, mind you, on several occasions. However, one of the places that God seems to reach me is in the comfort of my bathroom as I stand in front of the mirror, brushing my teeth!

Those moments stick out because I often stop brushing my teeth, find a notebook, write those God-inspired thoughts down, or text the message to myself on my phone! Here is one of my favorite verses about trusting God and a few “sneaky” others that make you think.2023: A Fascinating Year About Trust and its Benefits

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,And He shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6.

Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, The Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable.
He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength.
Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall,
But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. Isaiash 40:28-31.2023: A Fascinating Year About Trust and its Benefits

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28.2023: A Fascinating Year About Trust and its Benefits

Do you realize that it requires TRUST to wait on God? At times, we often think it is easier to run ahead of His timing. But if we truly want the BEST God has to offer, waiting is required.

It's hard to believe when disappointments, tests, and trials take place, but everything will work out for God's good (conforming us to His Son's likeness.) when we TRUST Him. Share on X

Easier Said Than Done.

Please listen when I say this. Trusting God is not easy. If we could do it on our own, our reliance on God would dissipate. That is why God loves it when we lean on Him and submit ourselves to putting complete TRUST in Him.

When the subscribers you’ve built up over the years no longer desire the Christian books you write but only want “free” stuff, you must trust Him. It was a difficult decision to say goodbye to all those subscribers, but in trusting God, I have found fellow Christians and supporters who are fans of my writing and excited to be a part of future books! That doesn’t happen without me trusting in God.

Sometimes, it may be more personal. There could be a family member or friend who hinders God’s plan for you from reaching fruition. Remember the future King David? His brothers were angry that he had come to check on them, while many of Israel’s army coward in fear from the taunts of Goliath. That didn’t prevent David from doing God’s will.

What would have happened had David returned home to tend to the sheep? No chance! Remember that God has you right where He wants you. He may not reveal His will for you to those around you. So, don’t let outside influences, especially ones not bathed in godly wisdom, detract you from moving forward.

Embrace the New Year!

So, whatever word or words God gives you for 2024, embrace them. As I’ve discovered, my new word means more than I initially thought. I’ll share that in a future post. It’s okay to be nervous or anxious about the future, but when you put your TRUST in Him, you have nothing to fear!

I don’t know what benefits God desires to bestow on you because your situation differs from mine. But that is why you have to trust Him completely.

May you seek God’s will in the New Year and ask Him to direct your paths. Do that, and your blessings will overflow in 2024, trials and all. Have a blessed year, friend.
