5 Habits for a Stronger Faith

As a committed Christian, I am learning now more than ever the importance of my strengthening faith.  If I want my faith to get stronger, I need to exercise my faith  In Hebrews 11:1, the writer of Hebrews says, “Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”

I have never met Jesus but I believe in my heart that He was crucified for my sins and that He rose again on the 3rd day.  More than just believing; I have accepted Him as my Lord and Savior and I know He will take me to Heaven someday because I accept his free gift of salvation.  Having such faith in God gives me hope and there is peace available to me when I seek after Him.Five Habits for a Stronger Faith

Whether I feel like working out or not every other day, I know that exercising consistently gives me a healthier, stronger body.  so in an effort to strengthen my faith I focus on practicing these 5 faith habits as part of my “Faith building”regimen.   I feel my faith getting stronger as strive to focus on these habits EVERYDAY .

I want to share with you my 5 habits for a stronger faith!

1-Sharing my faith.  In Matthew 5:16 Jesus says, Let your light shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”  As Christian I want to share my faith to encourage and inspire believers and help lead unbelievers to know Him as their Lord and Savior so that He is glorified!

2-Showing God my faith.  How sharing my faith is for the world to see, showing my faith is between me and God.  I show God my Faith by being obedient to Him.  John 14:15 again Jesus says,If you love me, you will keep my commandments.”    By being obedient to God, I am telling Him that I believe in Him and take him at His word no matter how long I have to wait.(Psalm 27:14)

3-Submit in my Faith.   I know we all hate the word “submit” but really this is about having humility toward God.  I have learned the hard way it’s so much better to show humility toward Him than have God humble me Himself!  Psalm 40:8 states; I delight to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart.”

4-Sustaining my Faith.   Just like in any exercise plan consistency is crucial for success. To sustain my faith I have to be consistently in God’s word.  When I read and study my bible and see how God’s promises were fulfilled throughout scripture, I am encouraged and I carry those scriptures with me throughout each day.  This helps my faith grow stronger. Psalm 119:11. Your word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against Thee.”

5-Sing about my Faith.  Now believe me when I say the best place for me to sing is in the shower!  However, in Psalms 100 it says …make a joyful noise to the Lord”.   Trust me I have the “noise” part covered most Sundays in church!  There is something so empowering to share from my heart with gratitude that God has done for me.  Whether it be me singing praises, humming to myself, or even writing on my blog!

I pray these 5 habits I’m trying to practice each day are of some help to you.  I know everyone likes to “exercise” differently. However,  practicing these habits have definitely strengthened my faith.  How about yourself?  Are there any faith exercises you want to share?  I look forward to hearing from you in the comments!

  1. These are excellent tips, Horace! You’re so right — it’s essential to build good, faith-building habits into our daily regimens. I like to reserve the early mornings for prayer and reading a Psalm to be reminded of God’s faithfulness, goodness, and my utter dependence on Him. I don’t always meet that goal, but I’m working on making that morning routine a daily habit.

    • Thank you Liz and good job on creating faith habits of your own. There are days where a schedule gets changed unexpectedly but God knows everything and He loves it when we are seeking after Him! I pray your habits will get stronger over time. God bless
